There are major problems with character choice and advancement in most popular MMORPGs. For one, the class and advancement system is inflexible. You have to choose your class at character creation time, and after that your advancement path is predetermined, so if you start as a warrior, advancement will improve your warrior skills in the exact same way that every other warrior advances. Thus, players must choose their character class (that they will be forever locked into with that character) when they first start the game and understand little or nothing of the ramifications of their choices.
In Reclamation, the only choices that need to be made at character creation time are the character's name and sex. When first awakened, all dreamers begin with 20 attribute (element) points in their Dreamsoul element, and 10 element points in each other element.
The first experience for new 0 orbit characters in Reclamation, otherwise called the Newly-Awakened, will be more or less pre-planned and similar for all characters as they go through a series of short tutorial quests that both teach them the mechanics of the game and also explain the basics of the various advancement paths. This delays the important choice of choosing an advancement path until the player is sufficiently familiar with the game to make a meaningful, knowledgeable choice.
