Graphics

The graphics engine has been created from the ground up to give Reclamation state of the art 3D graphics. Features include:

 

Completely Custom OpenGL 1.5 Based 3D Engine.
Support for a large array of hardware ranging from NVIDIA's GeForce 256 to FX and ATI's Radeon 7500 to Radeon 9800 class hardware.
Groundbreaking global illumination driven per-pixel lighting with support for normal, specular and refraction mapping.
Static lighting utilizes photorealistic multi-pass radiosity.
Parametric surfaces (Quadratic Béziers, Non Uniform Rational B-Splines and more) allowing for true curved surfaces with infinite levels of detail and accurate fabric simulation.
Lightning fast resource loads. The average level load takes less than 1 second to complete. And the engine uses an intelligent multi-threaded resource manager on the backend, which allows the engine to continue rendering the scene even while a new resource is being loaded (i.e. a player using a model or skin(s) that's not already loaded enters the scene).
Very low memory footprint. The engine requires no more memory to render 50 instances of a model than it does to render a single instance.
Intelligent texture compression. The engine knows which textures compress well and which do not (visually). And can selectively enable or disable texture compression to improve hardware texture throughput, while minimizing loss in visual quality.
Robust programmable hardware shaders using NVIDIA's Cg language, OpenGL Shading Language (GLSlang) and specialized assembly (ARB and ATI).
Highly scriptable particle engine.
Focus on cross-platform portability by encapsulating all threading, window system, input and render APIs into interchangable backends.
Other features include: specular mapping; bump mapping; animated textures; real-time water surface distortion; real-time light diffraction;  vertex morphing; fully animated seamless, soft-skin polygonal characters; dynamic mesh manipulation (for realistic character motion); texture morphing.
Networking

Lyra's proprietary networking system will be upgraded and further developed to provide the fastest, most reliable real-time game play available over the Internet. Improvements will include allowing larger groups of players to gather and interact in real-time, and expanding the customizability and malleability of the players’ avatars and the game environment. Customer Support and Game Mastering

Lyra Studios has learned from Underlight that proper game mastering and customer support is vital to the success of any online game. Lyra Studios has developed a game mastering and customer service plan for building a world-class organization to administer and support Reclamation. This will ensure that players always have access to ample technical support to help them get into the game, and that once within the game, the game masters are always available and working to maximize the entertainment experience of all the players.
